This live workshop series is designed to help participants understand the role of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) in the treatment of patients with MS, as well as the use of motivational interviewing as a tool to help MS patients improve adherence to therapy recommendations.
Upon completion, participants should be able to:
· Explain how imaging and clinical evidence are combined under the revised diagnostic criteria for MS
· Identify patients who are candidates for intervention with DMTs based on diagnostic criteria
· Develop effective, individualized treatment plans that consider risk and side-effect tolerance and allow for response-based alterations if needed
· Discuss the importance of engaging patients in conversations that promote self-management and shared decision making
· Describe how motivational interviewing can be used to promote adherence to medication and to medical recommendations
· Design a step-wise plan for integrating motivational interviewing into your patient visits
Designed for neurologists, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants, this interactive initiative also aims to help participants understand the role of disease-modifying therapies in the treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis.
