The course explains how the pulse-echo principle applies to sonography, describes the anatomic image formats used in sonography, and discusses how an ultrasound transducer works. Kremkau describes the functions of the parts of a sonographic instrument, lists imaging artifacts that can occur in sonography, explains the risk and safety issues in sonography, and describes how the Doppler effect is applied in diagnostic ultrasound.
